Most importantly, Hatshepsut well understood her family history, a history marked by illustrious deeds and proud traditions. Indeed, it was the knowledge of her family history, which stretched back through Kemet's Seventeeth Dynasty, that served as the basis of Hatshepsut's own character development' (Van, Sertima, 1993).

The cause of Hatshepsut's death is not known. Her mummy was missing from its sarcophagus when her tomb was excavated in the 1920s. There are several theories about her demise, including that she either suffered from cancer or was murdered, possibly by her stepson. No theory has been proved, nor has her body been conclusively identified.

J.A.Rogers Volume I World's Great Men of Color:

'When Thotmes called the nobles together, he said to them, "This daughter, Khummit Amen Hatshepsitou, the Loving One, I put in my place . . . henceforth she shall guide you. Listen to her words and submit unanimously to her commands. Whoever adores her, I will adore, but he who speaks evil against Her Majesty will die'(Rogers, 1972, 43).
